Zelensky urges van der Leyen to speed up further sanctions and financial aid

oh Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today urged European Commission President Ursula van der Leyen to prepare a new set of economic sanctions against Russia, which, if implemented, would be the 8th in more than six months since the Russian invasion began. .

In a tweet posted late Sunday, Zelensky said he had spoken with van der Leyen on the phone and discussed financial aid for his country and sanctions, including a ban on visas for Russian citizens, to put pressure on Russia.

Zelensky said they also coordinated measures to curb excessive Russian energy profits.

Remember that the Russian invasion began 193 days ago, in the early hours of February 24, and since then, much of the world has rallied behind Ukraine against Russia.

Sanctions are piling up, but so far have not been effective in stopping the Russian offensive.

Seven permission packages are already in use.
